Car and Driver Shoot Out Continued

Yesterday I mentioned that the Chevrolet Corvette was the overall winner compared to the Lamborghini, the Mercedes-Benz and the Dodged Viper. Now we know that any contest can be slanted, depending upon the criteria you are using. So lets take a look at the areas that were measured, and some results.

The overall contest was divided into four broad areas; vehicle; powertrain; chasis and experience.

Today we will take a closer look at the "vehicle area" and its results. One thing which looked a little strange to start was the maximum number of points allocated to each sub area. By that I mean the "as tested price" could range from 1-20 points, while the subcategory rebates/extras was from 1-5 points. Boy I'm sure glad they were using objective measurements that everyone would agree with.

The Corvette won with 72 out of 90 points. However it placed first in only one area Ergonomics (tied) and Trunk Space won.

The Mercedes-Benz and the Viper tied each with 62 points. The Mercedes-Benz won in Features/Amenities, and Driver Comfort, and tied in Ergonomics, Fit and Finish, Interior Styling. While the Viper won in As-Tested Price, and that was it.

The Lamborghini was last at 56 points, having won in Exterior Styling and tied in Fit and Finish and Interior Styling.

I can hardly wait until tomorrow, to post more results. Gee first in trunk space, I sure what one of those.
