Recently Honda announced that they have suspended the NSX supercar program. It was part of various cutbacks based on the current global economic downturn.
The original plans that people expected to see in the NSX included a front-mounted V10 engine that should have put out around 500 horsepower. This would have been in sharp contrast to the original NSX which had a V6 engine.
The NSX was produced for around 14 years and the last model came out in 2005. It was a great sports car, but I don't think it received the the attention or the recognition that it deserved. I think part of the problem was the V6 engine. While other supercars had V8's, V10's or V12's, Honda's choice of a V6 hurt it in the eyes of many sport car enthusiasts. Looking back you can see that the NSX was one of the best sport cars around. It was noted for being a superb daily driver, something which most exotic cars have never been called.
I'm looking forward to the time when Honda changes its mind on this car. The Japanese car manufactures make some of the best cars in the world. Their sports cars should also be rated among the best. The NSX would have made this list. Let's hope that this is only a delay and not a death notice.
