Besides all of the news about Honda withdrawing from Formula one this year, a couple of other teams are also in the news.
This year there is no formula races scheduled for the United States, or North American for that matter. But all hope is not lost for the future. It appears that there may be a US formula one team fielded in 2010. Leading the effort is Peter Windsor, who among other positions was Frank Williams team manager. He along with Ken Anderson are supposed to make an announcement about USF1 tomorrow.
They said that they have spent four years preparing for the team, and are planning on employing over 100 people and they have a working budget of $64,000,000 for the team.
Headquarters will be in North Carolina, where their cars will be designed and built. Hard to say how successful they might be in the coming years. Lots of very large companies have thrown multi millions of dollars in the formula one area with almost nothing to show for it. But the US is known for small group start ups that become major players. I wish them good luck, as I would like to see our country have a greater participation in one of the most competitive sporting events around.
