The March 2009 issue of Car and Driver had one of their typical comparison articles of different brands of cars competition. This time around they selected some super cars. One critical requirement was that each car had to have over 600 HP. The final contestants were:
Dodge Viper SR 10 - 600 BPH @ 6100 RPM with a V10 512 cu in engine.
Mercedes-Benz LS65 AMG Black Series - 661 BPH @ 5400 RPM with a V12 365 cu (twin turbocharged engine
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 - 632 BPH @ 8000 with a V12 396 cu engine
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - 638 BPP @ 6500 RPM with a V8 376 cu engine
I'll admit I have a prestigious for Italian cars, and before I read the article, I would have placed a small bet that the Labo would be their top pick. Well I guess I have a little money. Turns out they selected the Corvette. Their final point scores were:
Corvette -204 points
Lamborghini - 186 points
Mercedes-Benz - 183
Viper - 171
I would have come up with a different total, but then again I would not have used the same criteria they did in picking the top car. More details tomorrow.
