The Windsor Star recently ran an article by Manabu Nishimae the president and CEO of Honda Canada Inc.
In it he wrote about the long history of Honda in Canada starting in 1969 with a motor cycle and power equipment company. I found this interesting, because while I know Honda makes a lot of equipment besides cars, it is the automobile that I think of each time I hear the name.
It was not until 1973 that Honda in Canada sold it's first automobile. He did not say what model it was, but since the first Accord did not come out until 1976, I assume it was a Civic.
Mr. Nishimae also said "At present, we serve Canadians across the country with 275 vehicle dealerships - 227 Honda and 48 Acura stores - in addition to a large number of motorcycle, ATV, power equipment and marine dealers in every province. We also employ more than 5,000 associates in manufacturing and sales and, indirectly, more than 16,000 through our national dealership network.
So happy birthday Honda of Canada.
Thanks for visiting.
